Losing my best friend to MND a little over four years ago left a void that's never quite been filled. She was the first friendly face I encountered as a young teenager moving to Western Australia, and from that moment on, we were inseparable. I've never known the same comfort, laughter, or unwavering support from another friend since. Our days were a blur of shared experiences: an hour-long bus commute to and from school, spending all day together, and then hopping on the phone for hours afterwards, much to our mums' exasperation.
When she was just 17, an unknown cause almost took her from us, leaving her in a coma for months. During a time when most young girls were finding their way, my friend's world was suspended. The years that followed were a testament to her struggle and unwavering spirit; she never let that experience hold her back. Sharon explored Europe and lived in the UK, always with an adventurous heart.
Sharon was a talented artist, a truly creative spirit from a young age. In her later years, as MND relentlessly took hold and trapped her within a body that no longer worked, I vividly remember her telling me how much she missed the simple act of holding a paint brush. She entrusted me with the task of finishing a piece she could no longer complete and gave me all her art supplies. Many of these I've carefully saved, while others I've used to continue her creative legacy.
To witness my beautiful friend waste away, her vibrant mind still making jokes through an eye gaze communicator while her body failed her, was heartbreaking. MND is a cruel disease, incredibly hard on everyone it touches, making vital support for all impacted absolutely essential. I miss my dear Sharon daily, and though it's a small act, I truly believe she'll be smiling knowing this painting can help provide someone with the support they desperately need.

I created this painting and video in response to the devastating bush fires we are currently experiencing across our beautiful country. I hope you enjoy it and if you can give, please donate to any of the amazing charities that are helping our people, our fire fighters and our animals at this time.
For something a little different I created this video of my painting titled Winter's End. This piece sold before it was even dry but I love the way the video came out. Winter's End, Oil on stretched canvas (60.9cm x 91.5cm.
This painting was inspired by the plight of so many of our Australian farmers who are doing it tough at the moment due to ongoing droughts. They receive little or no assistance from our government and I am left to ponder the questions, if we don't help and our farmers disappear, Then who will feed us?
I was planning to donate 40% of the profit from the sale of this painting to Aussiehelpers.org.au, an organisation that helps Aussie farmers and their families. I have now instead sold the painting at cost to a charity event who will auction it off to raise funds for the farmers. I feel this will possibly help raise more funds than what I would have been able to contribute by my sale alone.
Then who will feed us? - Oil on canvas - 91.4cm x 76.2cm

Sale price at cost = $520
This is a piece that has taken a long time for me to finally complete. A long while ago i came across this picture & immediately it took me to a peaceful place. I could see myself sitting on the rocks in a state of mindfulness & just listening to the water dance off the edge of the rocks. For a long time I was not confident or willing to attempt to paint it in case I wasn't able to give it the justice i felt it deserved.
Recently I came to a place I felt I could paint this scene & bring myself to the state the original photo had taken me. With the use of palette knives & fan brushes I feel I was able to capture the serenity of the space, the sharpness of the rocks & the bright & bold red leaves adding something extra over the top of an already beautiful scene.
The scene has an oriental feel and I can feel the water dancing over the rocks & hitting the still pool below, which lead me to the name, Oriental water dance.
I was pleased to sell this painting before it had even dried!
