I am pleased to be exhibiting a number of pieces in this upcoming exhibition that will showcase the talent of 15 artisits from Fremantle and surrounding suburbs.
If you can't make the opening, come along and check out the exhibition during the day or over the weekend.
Come along for a great night, there will be wine and nibblies, live music and the exhibition will be opened by Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettit. Check out the feature page to view some of the new art that will be showing in the exhibition.
I was pretty pleased to be selected as the Rockingham Riot art stores artist of the month for October! Pictured here are a few of my paintings on display in the store front with information for my website and social media in the window too.
Its a great initiative by Riot stores and a fantastic opportunity for local artists to exhibit some of their work & get some great exposure.
The artwork will be up in the window until the end of the month so if you happen to be visiting the Rockingham shopping centre take a walk past Riot and see what you think!
I am hoping to be able to list a few more exhibiting opportunities coming up soon so keep an eye out on this page to know where or when!
It's exciting to have 3 pieces being exhibited in this community art exhibition on 25-27 May. The three pieces will be available for sale on the night along with many other great works of art from professional, emerging and student artists. If you are around the area during these dates then pop in and have a look.
I recently completed this painting on commission after someone saw my smaller canvas on social media. I was asked to recreate that painting with some slight colour changes (more oranges, less yellows) and on a much, much larger canvas! I was alittle nervous to say the least but in the end it turned out great! I decided to add some grass trees to give it a much more Western Australian feel & was pretty happy with how they turned out. To see the pictures of each phase & the comparison in size, check out the story on my blog titled Getting back into oils.
The competition has now closed and the Owl painting has been given away through the Simplee Art Facebook page.
Each pattern piece has been individually painted and the deeper outline shades drawn after in watercolour pencil.
Follow the Facebook page and keep your eye out for future competitions or giveaways!
Based on my original painting Butterflies, I was asked to do a similar piece. The wall space was large & the colour theme needed to match current furnishings & decor. As there was a large space available on the wall, a piece in three sections seemed like a perfect idea.
Each of the butterflies is hand drawn using watercolour pencils and is unique in its patterns, colours, size and shape. The butterflies were then cut and eventually placed on the background. The background is painted using a sponge technique in watercolour & gouache and finally the tree was painted over the top in acrylic.
